FAQ
What is this?
It's a temporary encrypted storage space think of it as a sketchy but honest USB drive floating in space. You drop a file, we encrypt it in your browser (we literally never see it), upload the scrambled mess to a decentralized network, and hand you a magic link. Share that link with your friend, your dog, or that one colleague who keeps asking for files over WhatsApp. They open it, their browser decrypts it, done. No account, no login, no drama. Just magic and cryptography.
How does this work?
Glad you asked! Here's the super simplified version:
1. You pick a file. Your browser goes "ooh a file!" and immediately encrypts it using AES-256,
that's military-grade crypto that would take longer to crack than the universe has existed.
2. The encrypted blob (looks like complete garbage to anyone without the key) gets uploaded to Irys,
a decentralized storage network. Our server just passes it along, totally blind to what's inside.
3. You get a link. The decryption key lives only in the #fragment part of that URL,
which browsers never send to any server. It's basically a secret only you and the URL know.
4. Recipient opens the link, browser decrypts, file appears. Magic.
The server is basically a delivery guy who drops off a locked box and has no idea what's in it.
Is my file safe?
Cryptographically? Absolutely. Your file is encrypted with AES-256 before it even thinks about leaving
your device. The server sees nothing but scrambled bytes even if someone hacked us (rude),
they'd just get a pile of digital nonsense.
However and this is important this is testnet storage. The network can reset at any time,
like that one friend who keeps factory resetting their phone. Your file could vanish without warning.
So please, for the love of all things holy, do not store anything critical here.
Wedding photos, legal documents, your secret meatball recipe keep those somewhere else.
This is for sharing stuff, not archiving your life. You've been warned.
